Healthy, Protein-Packed Hot Chocolate

Happy holidays!☃️ We love, love, love this time of the year! It can be stressful and kinda crazy, but we are finally all together for at least a few days, weeks if we get lucky. 🙇🏻

And although we could never overdose on each other, this time of the year, it's very easy to overdose on sweets 🍩, home cooked meals, party goodies🍪, and the holiday staple...HOT CHOCOLATE. One tiny little cup of dark, creamy, hot chocolate seems harmless, right? Of course it is, but what if you could make it not only healthier, but guilt-free so that you don't feel like you are slipping down the holiday hill towards Santa's waist. 🎅🏽

So we, being us, stumbled upon this wonderful creation when we, of course, decided to combine some of our favorite things (mainly because we were being lazy). Yerba Mate☕️ + Chocolate Protein powder = ❤️. 

Recipe:

1 cup Yerba Mate + Vanilla Nut Teeccino

1 scoop Chocolate protein powder (our favorite is Reserveage Whey Protein)

a splash of almond milk

Here's what the protein powder looks like. We try to get ours from our local health food store as much as possible. I know Whole Foods, Natural Grocers, and Vitamin Cottages carry this brand. However, it's cheapest on amazon, you can click on the picture and it'll take right there. (The 25 oz is the cheapest option!)  

We use a percolator to brew the tea. We usually add 8 tbsp of Yerba Mate and 2 tbsp of teeccino for 12 cups of water. You can adjust according to your tastes and caffeine needs. 

After the tea is brewed, add 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder and mix in 1 tbsp of gelatin, if desired. Top it off with some almond milk to cool the drink down a bit and smile as you enjoy an amazing cup of healthy, hot chocolate!
